I like the first one - the outer blocks frame the inner block nicely. Depends on which one you like the best. I always ask my husband and then end up doing just the opposite of what he says. :0)

How about a 3rd option -- in the 2nd quilt, rotate the corner blocks. That way the 'lines' connect.
