Please help, I am looking for a new light weight sewing machine I can easily carry to quilt classes, etc. I would like all the features of a larger machine, needle down, auto threader and thread cutter. Is there anything like this? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a Singer Confidence Quilter 7469. It has all the features you're looking for plus quite a few zig zag stitches. It also has a free arm and a small table . I bought mine at Joanns on sale for 299.00. doesn't have a carying case. I bought a tote on wheels that holds my machine, the table most of the stuff I need for classes. got it on sale too. Sorry this is so long.

Janome 3160 meets your requirements. Dunno if the Brother PRW 420 on Amazon has a thread cutter, but it's less $$$

Janome has a 3/4 size model weighing in at 12 lbs. Sorry, I don't know the model #.

A lot of gals with the larger computer machines have been buying this machine for their take to class one, so they can leave their computer one safely at home

Lots of quilters like the Featherweight.
I am devoted to Jem Platinum and Jem Gold - they're about 13 lbs each and cost $3-400; less if your LQS is having a machine sale. That's how I got both of mine.

I have a Brother HS2000 computerized machine with 70+ stitches & it's under 20 lbs. I can lift it with one hand easily. I love mine! I have a bad back & had to get the lighter machine so I could continue sewing as much as I wanted.

I have the Janome Jem Platinum. Really like it! For a lot less money you can buy a vintage Singer 301 which is a very cool machine. I have two:) Both are light weight and love them both!
