linen
Has anyone used 100% linen for a quilt? I understand the raveling issue, but otherwise linen is suppose to wear like iron. Just wondering.....

I have a top that is ready to be quilted where I used a variety of linens in the patchwork, and the back is almost all linen. I haven't started quilting it yet, but I don't think that it will cause me any problems. I really did not have any issues at all with raveling. I really like the texture and plan to use more linen in my quilts. There is an on line store fabric.store.com (I think) that has fantastic linen in many many colors. Pricing is excellent, and a sale on something every day (Saturday is the best). I will wash and dry my fabric about 3 times before I use it to shrink, soften and de-lint it. I think I'll go buy some right now - today is a lovely gray color on sale.

It also has a looser weave.
I've never been tempted because I've never had a linen item of clothing that wasn't scratchy and itchy, even those expensive Land's End summer blouses that were supposed to be soft. Pppfftt.
There are a few well-known bloggers out there who have made linen quilts; maybe do a Google search and see what they say about their results.
