I got them to unzip, but there was not a file anything like this is in the folders....

The peices will be pre-cut so all they have to worry about is sewing! I'll take a look at those changes you suggested! And yes, I meant to leave out pinning, it's such a simple sew that the pins would get in the way! :-)

I have office 2003 so that's why I couldn't open it. The only other things I noticed was on 3B. You might want to tell them where you want them to lay this piece. "Lay another row with blue ends of the other side of the yellow piece" or something like that. I noticed the pressing seams that Amma mentioned but nothing more jumped out at me.

Great instructions. Have fun with your class!

It seems to be pretty easy to follow. I think the only thing I would change is cutting, sewing the triangles to make the squares. I think it would be easier to put the 2 squares together, sew 1/4" on either side of the diagonal mark, then cut, thus you have 2 half square triangles without working with the bias edges. Just my opinion.

There is some other software for opening zip files, etc. It's shareware, plus they have a free extraction tool on the site. I've had it on my computer for about a year and I like it. Here's a link.

The materials that they get in the kit will be pre-cut so they don't have to worry about that. Other than the press seams thing, I certianly hope that it's easy enough to follow. Thanks for the reviews guys!

I would detail how to make 1 friendship star block. Sew this piece to .. and so on. Then I would tell them to Measure the block. If it isn't 6 1/2 " square (or what ever the size) they need to check their seam allowances. That way they haven't ruined every half square triangle.

I too think I would have them sew the 1/2 square triangles from 2 squares of fabric.

I would agree with this! Tricky for a beginner to be working with bias. :-D
