When I saw this book in my LQS, I had to had to own it. I did begin gathering fabric to make it and now all are in a plastic container. I need lots more fabric, but I've got enough to start. Reading all these replies makes me want to begin. I'm thinking...

Back basting in when you trace your pattern on the back of your block, then position the fabric over the spot on the front where it belongs, here are a couple of websites that explain it. I take it one step farther: After doing the running basting stitch, I turn it over to the front, and trace around the stitches with a Clover white ink pen. That way when I remove the basting as I go, I have a line to follow. If this isn't clear, please PM me?

I have found my background fabric and will order it this afternoon (I think). I thought about Thanksgiving (US) week.
Will anyone else be ready? I know Lacelady has already begun but she promises to show us her progress. What do you think?

My "Little Brown Bird" book came today. I got it off e-bay for 49.00. I am going to tackle this. It is beautiful. I am not an expert, but I think with drive and determination....I can do it. I know with Thanksgiving just 2 weeks away, I probably won't truly get to start it like I would like to until after all the holiday hoopla. I think my first line of attack will be to cut the 9" blocks, and try to pick out fabrics from my stash, backing fabric, and batting. I am really going to give it my full effort. I am excited. Wish me luck...And good luck to You!

I have both the book and the cd. I sat down the other day to try it out on the first block. Wow, it's so hard to work with those tiny pieces. Having trouble doing the needle turn smoothly. Anyone have a site to share that will show me up close and personal? I will either chuck this whole thing or do it by machine. Will try to stick it out. Help!
