You can make log cabin blocks in so many color ways, I have even used both log cabin, and court house steps blocks in the same quilt. The only scrapy log cabin I have made were all solids in Amish colors, I have a very hard time making a scrap quilt, I have to have every thing matchie matchie, I love other peoples scrap quilts, I just have a really hard time making one. No rules with log cabin quilts so go with what ever feels right and looks right to you, I am sure it will be wonderful!!

    Default log cabin block

I do this all the time. When I make a scrappy log cabin, I do the light all in creams or white, the use dark colors foir the other it is striking.

I think if your light is a batik it would probably look just fine, because there is so much texture in batiks.

Thanks so much everyone all of your quilts are just beautiful..I love seeing what everyone make and how different the same pattern looks with different fabric colors..

I have decided to use a light color beige for the light color as for some reason I have a lot of this color in my stash..Thanks again and I will post a picture when I get it done..

I decided to change my Avatar to a quilt I made, I didn't make the other quilt... but I just love it as my sister made it and it is my treasure... Thanks
