I'm going to attempt a lone star quilt for my bed. Can I piece the strips without paper piecing it? I don't know how to paper piece.

I've been looking at different websites on how to make one, but if anyone has any advise to offer, I'd sure appreciate it. I'd like the star to be 48 inches.

This is one of the sites I looked at.

    Thanks.

There's a couple more techniques you may want to check out.

I'm confused & still need help please.

I got my strips cut, and I don't know how to place them to sew them together where you get the diamond look.

Can some some one help me with this please. I've looked at all the tutes on this, but just don't understand "this step".

    Thanks again.

I line my strips up and sew them together. Each strip is offset by a couple inches. When it is done and pressed, I take a ruler and start cutting strips at 45 degrees. These will look like parellograms. Re-align the like colors until you have big diamonds and sew.

That process was not explained so well, but try it on paper if you want to see what I mean.

Let me look through my UFOs - I may have some to show you.

I got that far, it's after I cut the strips, how do I line them up to sew them? This is what I have.

You are doing it right. The extras will be unsewn to make the diamond shape, or you can add extra at the tip. Only at the longest (top of diamond) point, will you have every color

Cover up the top dark with your hand and you will see the effect start. The strip after you will remove both the first dark and floral. It gets a little confusing because you are working from a different angle.

Also, when you go to sew, pin them well. Some evil imp inside of me always wants to line the seams up, and they must be offset in order to line up. That is the one pattern I will baste. I guess that explains why they ended up in the ufo pile :D

To see, just line them up, then put a sheet of paper over the ones you will be unsewing. The diamond will show right up.

By unsewn, do you mean to take the seam out on those?

Put a piece of paper over it and you will see that you are perfect. The extras will ne taken off, unsewn, ripped out If you were here, I could show you in 30 seconds

look at your figure 6, then imagine it leaning back, and you will see what you have laid out, only wth the extras not removed.

Am I making any sense or just confusing you more? Did you want the dark point in the center or outside?
