My grandson is 3, and he loves games. So, I would like to make him a quilt made with squares of different animals.

What I want to make, if there is a pattern out there is a quilt of different animal squares. Each square would have a solid square on top with velcro on the bottom of the cover and window so you can open the window and try to find 2 blocks with the same picture. Make sense??

What I'm thinking so far, if there isn't a pattern....is sewing a solid piece of fabric(app 3/4") on all 4 sides of each square, then sew the window onto the top piece. Sew the solid rows together, then add velcro to the window and cover.

Does this sound like this would work?
Better yet, does anyone know of a pattern that works the way I want...lifting the top piece of fabric to see what is on the bottom.

Found it - I knew I had seen it last year:

Would that work for you? Or something similarly constructed?

MTS, you are amazing! Is there anything you can't find?

That is a very cute quilt, and a great idea.

    Thank you so much mts!!
That is exactly what I am looking for. They called it "Hide and Seek", so that is probably why I couldn't find it. I was searching for Peek a Boo for the last couple days.

I want to make that quilt and am going to use samller squares so there will be more windows, app 6" squares. He has to take his own blanket to day care, so I thought he would like to play this with some of his friends. PLUS!!..the back is going to be an I Spy pattern. I'm going to use the left overs from what the windows are made of. Two games in one quilt!

I'm fairly new to quilting, so I really do appreciate you finding this. It's easy to think of something, but drafting it could probably be challenging.

I'm working on my first quilt for his younger brother, and it is even easier...3 fabrics. One block will be a 9 patch consisting of 2 contrasting fabrics. Polka dots on it are loud. The other square is a froggy square. It is going to be cute!

    Thanks again
