Now that is fascinating! I did not know that! Talk about a cool science lesson for your kids. I wonder how that works? Where is the -ahem- material stored? Or are the fertilized eggs stored? I really have to google this now. Thanks for the info!
Did you have a boy turtle too?
No...Turtles can lay eggs for 2 years on only 1 fertilization...if, I am remembering this correctly....she came to us this way. Layed her 1st eggs within a couple of weeks of getting her.

I was asked to do a small one for my son, too. We had a box turtle named Link....as in Missing Link...for 20 years. She even layed eggs the first 2 years, but we weren't able to hatch them.
