    You might talk to your membership frankly about the fact that you basically have two types of members and the fact that both groups need to compromise so everybody gets something from the guild. Then you could try having every other meeting something for the current quilting group and the other month something that will make the others happy. That way neither group is left out completely. Also you could have secondary meetings -- for example our guild has an applique group that meets at a time other than our regular meeting. And we have meetings for making charity quilts and other meetings for making quilts of valor.

    We had a fun after program class making these:

    I made hexies and left the cardstock templates in. I sewed two hexies together front and back. I then joined them together sandwiching the hanger ribbon and bell ribbon between two. I used the large size hexie, 2 inches across.

    Do the older ladies attend for quilting or for a social outing with their friends? If they would like to make a quilting contribution, they could be a valuable resource. Perhaps an anonymous survey would help you understand what everyone's interests and expectations are.
