Default looking for motif for a twisted ribbon border

I have completed a panel quilt with sand hill cranes in the center. I put a twisted ribbon border around it and now I am ready to fmq in the border. I will post the picture of the quilt I am copying. I would like the design to be angular and continuous. Well I can't get the picture to load so will try later.

It wouldn't be too big a stretch to adopt the swirl design at the feet of the cranes into a continuous patter for the border. The size would be the length of a repeat in the border. I would start with a single ribbon line all around and the start again offsetting the line to get the blend and spread in the panel.

I've been trying to post this picture since the 16th (I didn't know it posted) and did not get any of your comments on it till today. So I did an angular pattern sort of like 1/4 inch from the edge of each piece and one down the center. I am ready to put the binding on it.Will post again then
