Default Looking for a pattern we've all seen.....

I'm trying to find a pattern I believe we've all seen at some time or another. It is a simple design and the secondary pattern creates a star where 4 block corners meet (I've mostly seen white stars or black). I thought it might have been on Quiltville but I don't find it there. Anyone know the name or link? THX so much!

String pieced sounds like what you are describing.

Could this be the one... I happened to be looking/studying it this morning... hmmm that would help lower my scraps.

This is what came to my mind, too, but the stars are formed by the pieced sashing strips, not the blocks. The link shows solids squares for blocks, but you can use any type of pieced blocks as well.

The Periwinkle quilt block makes a star using four blocks. It's also called Arkansas Snowflake block
