formula: size of finished block divided by 3 = sashing width * 6" block / 2" sashing with 1" triangles for star points /2" corner stone add 1/2 " seam allowance on all pieces.
    cut 1- 6 1/2 sq .
    " 4- 6 1/2" x 2 1/2" sashing strips on each sew sq diagnal
" 4- 1 1/2" triangles to ends of strips (make 4 units) or use 4- 1 1/2 sqs sewn diagonally to corners of each strip and cut off the corner 1/4 from diagonal seamand press. makes a point at the center of the small ends of sashing strip
4- 2 1/2" corner stone sqs same color as 1 1/2" triangles on sashing strips.
this makes 1st block. 2nd block of row #1.add sashing and 2 corner sqs to 3 sides of the block and sew to block #1. then repeat 2nd block as many as it takes to make the desired width of the quilt.
row #2. sew sashing strips and corner stone sq to 2 sides of each block making a strip. the desired width of quilt
repeat row # 2 as many times as needed to make the length of the quilt.

wow! It is hard to explain without pictures.. I draw my blocks and quilts on graph paper but don't know how to do that and post it. happy quilting!

Justflyingin, your quilt is beautiful. I love the red stars and the red border just jumps and it's quite stunning.
