My instructor at my LQS had a quilted sewing kit that a friend made her. I would like to make one for myself. I am not sure that I want to use sandwich bags for pockets as I am sure I will wear them out in a jiffy. Hers had a zippered pocket, a built in pin cushion, and maybe even another pocket or 2. I think I should be able to design one myself but don't trust my judgement. Any suggestions....

I have found a slew of links to free patterns for sewing kits. Maybe one of them is what you are looking for?

There are a lot of really nice tutorials on this board. You can do a search. Here is one of my favorites

I have one with baggies that I've been using constantly for at least 15 years (really???) The baggies are the sturdy kind & are stitched to fabric that is attached into the bag by velcro. This makes them easy to take out if you want to use them for floss (I have never removed mine :-) ) It was purchased at a craft fair, sorry no pattern but one of the links shows a similar one, only mine is square.
