I'm sure I got mine at JoAnn's many years ago. They are white glass heads and are very fine. The only problem I have had with them is that the bend easily. On the bright side, they bend back easily, and you can iron them without having them melt. I also know that I didn't pay any way near $10.00 for them.

I can order Clover, Collins and Bohin. Different lengths and gauges!
They range from $9.00- $12.00 for a package of 100 pins.

I used to have to order them from Nancy or Clotilde, but now Joann's carries them; I bought a box of Dritz (only 1-3/8", but long enough for me) there last week when all notions were half-price. I always use the long glass-head silk pins, but they also had packs of "quilt" pins. I can't remember if they are as long, but they are thicker, so might stay in the fabric a little better than the silk pins. (I am always losing/finding pins on the floor.)

I was at Tuesday Mornings today and they had the 1 7/8 inch quilters pins-sharp fine. They came 75 to a box and they had 3 boxes hooked together and charged me 99 cents total. I was soicked. They're made by Wrights. The ticket said reg.price 8.97, sale price 7.17 and their price 99 cents. I got another bundle that has 1pk. of machne needles, 1pk. of applique needles, 1 pk. of betweens and 2 holders with beeswax in them. They charged me $2.99 for all of that.

Go to your local florist and buy a box of corsage pins. It should be about $5. for a box of 2 or 3 hundred. They are long and strong. This is what I use to pin my quilts into my longarm. Happy quilting. N

I purchased pins that you use to hold flowers on. I found then in the wedding section of Hobby Lobby. Love them and they work great.

I have a set of the Fons and Porter glass head pins like you described, and they're awesome! I've thrown out all of my others. I got mine a few years ago at Tuesday Morning, but I've seen them in their clearance section more recently, and pick them up as gifts when I do.

All good suppliers mentioned in the posts. I have Clover but you may want to watch the size on the package. It may say extra fine but Clover has different sizes. The package I have says 0.4 mm which is the very fine. The first I found at Joann's were extra fine but not lately. A few years ago the regular length pins were available in extra fine with glass heads. They are good when one does not want all that pin length. Have not been able to find those again.

OK, thanks for your testimonial! I saw the Clover's when I did my initial search. The heads now are orange & green, but her's were multi-colored and I wanted to make sure they were the right ones, before I spent $10 for a packet. Found them at Overstock for $8.
