looking for table runner patterns
I would like to make some table runners as gifts. (not necessarily in Xmas fabrics).
Could someone give some links to runners and/or placemat patterns?
I am a newbie so simple patterns are best.

Hi, I suggest you google "free table runner patterns." There are dozens and dozens. One of my favorites is the French Braid: http://quiltbug.com/free/table-topper.htm - makes up really pretty and fast. Also looks nice with border around it!
