I know this sadness. Something similar happened to our family after a trip to Alaska. My DH had been fishing and we shipped (not UPS, the other one) One hundred pounds of halibut and salmon back. When we checked for the shipment, someone else had signed for it (not even with our name)and there was not anything they could do. The shipment was marked fresh seafood, and someone told us later that that happens all the time. Lesson learned: Not everyone is honest, and NEVER put on your package what is in it. So sorry.

I am heartsick for you. I really hope you are able to find it. Best of luck!!! Keep us posted. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that would like to know the outcome. I hope it's a positive one.

How heartbreaking. I cannot imagine how devastated you must feel.
Use Tom Martino if you are in CA.
Heck, write Oprah's people and maybe they will do a show on it.
Never hurts to ask. Make a stink about it. Don't give up or stop.
    Good luck.

So sorry for your loss but I sincerely hope that it's found even if it's not in time for Paducah. You did such a beautiful job.
    Good luck, Kutnso

Yes, they are able to track every where it went what truck and what time. That's why they put bar codes on the packages. Keep trying for higher up bosses.

Thanks, everyone for your support and encouragement. This board is great.

I have some progress - our local consumer advocate is getting involved. She's planning to do a story in our local paper on Thursday. She has a good track record of solving problems like this.

    Keep your fingers crossed!

Hope you insured it to the max. I would try to contact the person highest up at UPS. 10 days to close on tracking is just crazy. I will sure be thinking twice before I use UPS again hope everyone else will be to if this is the kind of service they offer.

    Janet:
I've got my fingers crossed, my eyes crossed, my legs crossed. If I could cross anything else I'd do it for you. I can't wait to hear of the good news that it has been found and returned to you!!! Best of luck!

Keep calling and complaining to the company. The squeeky wheel gets the grease. I really hope you can get this quilt back, it is beautifully done.
