Thanks so much for the update! I've been following this post and am praying that your quilt returns to you safe and sound! It's so heartbreaking, and I can't even begin to imagine what you must be feeling.

She packed it in three boxes, each bigger then the next. The box was too big to lose! She took pictures of the packing box at the UPS office, all labels and even the clerk. I read that there are tiny GPS thingy that can be used to sew in clothes. I think that would be excellent to use in any quilt going to a big show. It cost a fee to activate the GPS but the location can be pinpointed, like the new cell phones can be located if lost or stolen.

can the general public buy those GPS thingies? I remember seeing a report on TV lately that said companies are using them, and adding them to packages only adds $.15 USD or some nutty amount, so I would love to get ahold of them, as I ship all sorts of "original" artwork for my business!

UPS put a tracer on it, but after 10 days they closed the case because they couldn't locate the box, telling me that I could have the shipper file a claim. They don't seem to get it - i want my quilt back! It's hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. I will never get those years back and I refuse to believe that it just disappeared.
And now, to top it all off, it's been juried into the AQS show in Paducah.
If anyone here knows anyone at UPS who can help me, please let me know. My heart is breaking, and the show deadline is coming up at the end of the month.
Thanks, everyone.

Here's a thought. TV stations are always doing features, specially heart tugging stories. Call you local station and tell them the whole story. And make sure they know it's been accepted into a quilt show.
If you are really lucky, maybe the national network might pick up on the story.
It's certainly worth the try.

I will say that once you get UPS's attention, they make every effort to keep you updated. I'm glad they are taking this so seriously.
