All good to hear! I've already signed up. We pay and get our materials this week, then the first meeting is August 13. The shop has given up on classes - they can't keep a teacher, people ask for classes then don't sign up for them (wrong day, wrong time, etc) so this is what they're doing instead.

They just had their first retreat, but I didn't go. We were getting back from a family vacation on the day it started and the fee was out of my comfort level - $350 I think it was for 3 days. No matter how reasonable that is my budget doesn't allow for it. $30 I can handle!

Glad you signed up. Sounds like a good deal and you will have the chance to make a lot of new friends.

I'm signed up with my bestest buddy so that's always fun! On Friday when I went in there were 22 people signed up - this is a tiny shop so that's why they split it into two sessions. There are several quilt clubs in town, but since I work full time - during the school year - those are not available to me. I"m really looking forward to this.

Sounds great to me. I just started the FW on Saturday at a LQS and it was so much fun. You're going to have a great time.

Love to do it. Sounds reasonable but I only have FAQS---Far Away Quilt Shops. Why I love QB. :-)

We did this at one of my LQS but it was focused around a particular theme or designer. It was very much worth the money and I learned a lot of tips and tricks from the owner at the classes. I really enjoyed doing it.

    Jan,
My LQS has several "clubs" that work like this. They meet for 1-1/2 hour(s) and it is demo only. Currently we are doing "Marti & Me" which is a template club which meets monthly. Cost is $30 for 6 months and you get a wonderful free pattern with detailed instructions each month and you can either buy a kit or use your own fabric to do the project. The lady who demos is a fantastic quilter and cuts fabric better than anyone I know. Sounds like the shop in El Campo is really trying. Keep supporting it so that you have local access to quilting "things".
