I don't quilt but do lots of mixed media crafting. ONCE, I was going to enter some things in a county fair, I got so much static, picked everything up and left the scene, never to do it again. My creations happen to be my 'art' and no one is going to tell me what I need to do to it, to let the public see it. Doing what they wanted, detracted from my work. Funny part is, the woman didn't have a clue about arts or crafts.

This is from the Nebraska State Fair entry rules for quilts. I can't imagine that it would be any different at the county fair level.
"All quilts must have a fabric label with the name and address of the maker(s) attached to the back lower left corner of the quilt. Cover the quilt maker(s) name with a second piece of fabric wherever it appears on the quilt."

Our county fair doesn't even require any 'labels'. Not a requirement for entry - and if there's a hanging sleeve, would be kinda hard to hang it upside down. I put in 4 quilts this past week and while all of them had labels, not sure if they were all on the right or left. Will have to look when I get them back. I have my guild challenge ready and it's on point - my label is also middle of the back, below the hanging sleeve - on point. Guess that would have blown your lady's mind.

I'm left handed, too. I've learned to live in this right-handed world, but I sew 'backwards', my ironing board is set up 'backwards', my kitchen is even backwards!!! We lefties do compensate for everyone else's problems!

Agree that it would be helpful if all requirements/rules were specified before you enter your quilts. Loved your response -- too bad the checker didn't get it the first time and kept repeating. Best of luck - hope you win some ribbons -- let us know.

Hi everyone. I am new to quilting and this is my first post. I read ya'll every day and have learned so much from your expertise. However, I have a question. What do you put on a quilt label? I have just finished my first large quilt (queen sized). it is ready for the label.
