I have a Viking 1100 and it's a great machine but it does "not" like fused webbing or anything else I have tried for applique. I think the needle senses the tackiness of the glue or something because after about 10 stitches it starts dropping stitches, does anyone else have this problem or any ideas?

Have you tried a light fusible? Or the 505 spray that is made for applique? Elmers glue works too, I just glue around the edges and then press with a dry iron, no tackiness to gum up a needle and it washes out.

Thanks Amma, I have tried all the fusibles but not Elmers or 505, I'll give that a try.

Lisa, are you using sew fusibles or no sew.?
You have to use the lite or that is going to happen, ask me how I know I used the wrong one, one time noe I make sure I keep all marked as to what they are. You have a wonderful machine.
I have Vikings too. Worked for the Company 20 years.
Have any more question I do not mind a PM from you. Help when I can.

I believe there is more than one kind of Elmers - the one that washes out is Elmers School Glue and that's the one I use.

and the correct size sharp needle is a must, if your machine says use a 90/16(just a number, check the size recommended for what you are sewing) needle do so and make it a 'sharp' not a universal. and if using paper-back fusable, two that aren't too bad for sewing through are 'heat and bond lite' and wonderunder (a pellon product)
I have tried many different types and some work great the first time, then i use them on something else and it's next to impossible to sew through.

I agree you need the one that washes out
