I am very interested in learning to machine applique (raw edge) and especially doing a border. Any suggestions for books or tutorials? Thanks for all your help!

I would applique the border before putting it on the quilt, if you are going to sew around the appliques edges. It isn't easy wrangling a quilt top to do this, after the borders are put on.
I might even cut the border slightly larger, in case the edges fray from handling them :D:D:D

When learning a new technique I like to take a class from a good instructor...Also, you tube has an abundance of videos on just about any quilting topic....Here's one for example...

I've found "Applique Made Easy" by Karen Costello very good. Lots of how to and tips for hand and machine methods, and guides for notions etc.

edit: sorry, the link I tried will not work, but Amazon have it!
