I don't press or pin. My preference is sewing to the front and flipping and hand sewing, but, with baby quilts I like to machine sew the bindings.
Do you have the url for her blog? Can it be shared here?

I sew it on the back, flip it to the front and machine stitch it on the front. I know this is not the 'proper' way, but, I do not care for hand sewing and I am not making an heirloom quilt. Another thing I often do (if the quilt top asks for it) is to use a decorative stitch and a variegated thread. It not only adds a bit of extra to the binding, but can cover any late night wobblies in the straight stitching! I use this same practice when making aprons (I make a lot of them for my shop) and summer cotton shifts. Quick, easy and it gives a little added design to the hem.

I use the method klswift does. My strips are 2 1/2' and I sew them together with a straight seam instead of the 45 degree angle. I do my jelly rolls the same way. I just started using a 3/8" seam and I think I'll be doing it that way now. I do use a decorative stitch but never thought of variegated thread. Thanks for the suggestion, klswift.

I also do my binding the same way and usually with a decorative stitch as well, just not the variegated thread. I'll have to try that.

Thank you. All I was finding was something "spiritual"! She used to post some gorgeous quilts on the board.

I sew the binding to the back of my quilt and then turn it over to the front and top stitch down 1/8" from the edge, cut binding strip is 2.5" wide.
