Running foot? Do you mean walking foot? I would recommend getting the one made for your machine. I got a no-name one for mine and it broke after just a few months. The one made for my machine was much sturdier.

Totally agree with this. It happened to me just last week. I ordered a universal(generic) walking foot for my Janome. I got it last week, used it twice for about a total of 1 1/2 hours. It was soooo noisy and made my machine shake. It broke while I was using it. I had bought it for 50% off so I only paid $18 plus shipping for it. I was able to find a brand name one for my Janome at kenssewingcenter.com and I paid $30 which included shipping and I received it within 3 days!!

(in no way affiliated with kenssewingcenter.com, just very pleased with their service!!)

I think most walking feet screw on, they do not clamp on. Do you have a sewing machine dealer near you that you could check it out.

Yes I mean walking foot. lol...I wish I had a running foot too. I don't run too fast these days. I barely walk. :) No, I don't have a sewing store close. I will have to go about an hour away or more, but I guess that is what I will have to do. Thanks for everyone's input about getting the one for my machine.

I wouldn't use anything but the one intended for your brand of machine. When I wanted one, I called the phone number listed on the Janome website and they gave me the names and numbers of several places nearest to me. Turns out the closest one is about 1 1/2 hour away! But I called them and they mailed it to me, cost me almost $60 (gulp!) including S&H (my machine is an old simple zig zag, so I was surprised there was a walking foot available for it). But it works beautifully and was worth every penny.
