I do a lot of cross hatch quilting with my dual fee foot on my Janome. It's my favorite way to quilt and I start at the corner and sew the first line corner to corner.

Youcan do any size quilt on your sewing machine. I use a QAYG by column so I'm only working with the width of a large block or maybe two-three blocks wide. I also no longer do the backing in strips. Instead I make the backing and then add the Block Columns and Batting. I spray baste using 505 which I like the best. Using this method you can quilt Any Size quilt you want on even your home smallest machine. I send very little out to a LA'er now. Only very important gifts or QOV
