My janome did the same thing and my repair man said it was a tiny spring in the foot pedal went bad . He tried to order it to replace it but they said can't order just the spring had to order the whole foot pedal.Isn't that a rip off?

I have 3 different janome machines and have never had a problem like this in all the years of use. But my guess would be the foot pedal also. The dealer should replace it at no cost to you unless it has been damaged somehow. If he doesn't help you out with a free replacement then you should write aor call the distributor for your area which you can find on the USA website. I am sorry that you are have a problem.

None of my Janome-owning friends have ever had it happen either, which leads me to suspect that there might be something in my machine that is causing problems in the pedal foot. What are the odds that I would get all the bad pedals in town when NONE of my friends have this problem?!!

I had a Euro Pro machine that did that. I had it serviced and it still did it from time to time...never did figure out what caused it. Of course it wouldn't do it when the service guy was working on it. My solution was to buy a new Janome 6500 and I only use the Euro Pro occassionally.

I have two Janomes. One a DC2007 and a 6600. I have never had that problem with either one. I wonder if you could check your serial numbers to see the year and where they were manufactured. Maybe Janome has issues at the particular plant.
