I dropped all my subscriptions except Quilters Newsletter. It seemed to me they often all featured the same type articles in a particular month. I had to wonder if the editors got together and decided what was going to be "it" for the month! Anyway, I used to get 4 or 5 and they just stacked up, so as they expired I didn't renew.

I buy old 1990-2008 quilt magazines on Ebay usually Quilters Newsletter-Quiltmaker and American quilter. Get about 10-15 mag for about $5.00 plus shipping. Really enjoy seeing the changes of style from say the 80's to the 90's and the various styles, techniques and colors.

At this point in time I only subscribe to one and that is a digital for Fons and Porter. Can look at the pages when I want, can download a pattern if I want. Have access to past years, does not require some one cutting down a tree and because it is digital, does not go one my coffee table......

There's something to like about all of them, I've subscribed to all over 20+ years, and some that aren't even published anymore ! Currently get just AP&Q and McCalls. I stopped taking F&P, IMHO their projects began to seem like old repeats. Guess they will at this point !
Really like the new Primitive Quilts mag - recommend if you like cozy flannels, wools & homespuns etc :)

I like Quilters Newsletter and Quilt. Let most subscriptions run out as there was nothing new. Quilts were the same old same old.

Our guild has a donation table. There are usually magazines there and I'll pick up a few and put a small donation in the box. I read them and sometimes copy a pattern and then return it for someone else to use. I especially like the older ones that were printed before I started quilting ('99).

I did that a couple of years ago and then I donated the ones I am least fond of to Goodwill. Made some room to spread out my stash. I try to keep my stash visible and store it on shelves wrapped around carboard. Then I can "shop" in my own sewing room. I often let others "shop" there too. Actually good friends and members of our quilting group. Comes in handy when I need "just one piece" and I get to "shop" theirs.

I like McCall's Quilting and QuiltMaker the best. The only one I'm not real crazy about is the Quilter's Newsletter and my subscription runs until 2013. American Patchwork and Quilting is also a favorite of mine. So many beautiful patterns and I've gotten so many good tips from readers letters.
