Maiden name on quilt?
#8
HAHA!! How about none of the above!!!
There was my maiden name. Then I married and officially changed my name. Husband #1 passed away. Some time later I re-married.
I've been married 7 years now and have not yet changed my name to either my maiden name or my current husbands name. I KNOW I don't want to be known as my late husbands name, but current husband and I argue about which name I should choose. I suffered from "say that again" with my maiden name (it's long and Italian), and he suffered from "ha ha ha!" when he was a kid. So he wants me to change it to my maiden name, and I would prefer to change it to his cause even though it's kinda funny to some (not me) it's easy to say and spell. His kids don't even have his name, they have a shortened version of it.
I sign my quilts with my current husbands name. A name I do not legally claim!!

Well, even though we have lived together for 20 years, and have half-raised a family, we haven't married, so I haven't had to even think of that issue.
However, I've noticed that several of the older quilters I know put Mrs. so-and-so (full married name) on their labels, so it's clear it is their married name on the lable.
How about using "nee" on the label? I have to do a lot of record searching in archives and places for my day job...in my requests I always put a maiden name as "Jane Ann Smith nee Johnson" so that who ever is getting my requests knows has all the information.
I hope that helps.
