I`m working on my sec for 41 blocks free pattern I want to use lots of scraps a miss mash of colors
if you coordinate each block with pleasing colors will that work
the picture of the quilt has any colors

are you sewing just one block, or combining several different blocks?
if you choose one constant fabric it will really help pull anything scrappy together.
And (or many!) example is Bonnie Hunter mysteries.

We may be using 20 different reds and 40 different blues and lots of mixed neutrals, but we always choose one fabric as our constant to keep everything pulled together. Good luck with your project be sure and show us photos!

In using scraps, I find that you need to keep in mind the contrast, light medium and dark. I am attaching a picture of a quilt I made with scraps. Had to buy some light cream colored pieces as never have enough scraps of that. The pieces making the circle effect are Jabob's Ladder and were made by my quilting group in red, yellow, green and blue. Each person used her own fabrics so technically I guess they are scrappy too.

I have found that I generally dislike my scrappy quilts until I get to the end. Once you put them together with a constant sashing or border to tie it all together it all seems to come together and play nicely.

I love any and all scrappy quilts. Scrappy is just what it says. I make them to use up my scraps and I am always pleased with mine.

Well beauty really is in the eye of the beholder...and "to each his own". I LOVE scrappy and have never made any other kind. To ME, quilts with just a few fabrics are just ugly, and apparently some of us think the same of scrappy!!!!! I sometimes focus on a particular color, but use many fabrics, but never just a couple of fabrics. How different we all are!!! And that is a good thing, too!

Wow, I'm amazed by your gorgeous quilt! I would love to make a scrap quilt and have scrap quilt envy! That quilt certainly does not say leftovers to me. Bravo! Great job!

Definitely check out Bonnie K. Hunter's site: quiltville.blogspot.com. She's the Queen of Scrap quilts and has tons of pictures. You'll get a really good idea of how a jillion different fabrics can work together.
