Try to find Ricky Timms One Seam Flying Geese pattern on line. It is so easy, pretty and fun to do.

Lots of great methods being shared, guess it boils down to personal preference. I like the one mentioned first https://pamsclub.com/

This one is good too... video tutorial, fast easy flying geese with no waste.

let us know which you think you'll use to make for your brother's quilt.

Use this method all the time...no waste flying geese!
I used this method on my last quilt and I really like it.
    1. You don't waste any fabric
    2. It was very accurate

why not try to order it online from them; you can use coupons to cut cost and sometimes they have free shipping.
Or ask them to do a special order at your local Joanns. You can still use the coupon, and they order 2 bolts (or whatever you need) so you're not trying to piece it together.

30 yards for the back ground fabric....seems a big high, even for a king size.
I have done the math about 3 times and it still comes out to about 26 or 27 and I added some for shrinkage and finishing the edges.

Thanks, I just ordered 10 from Jo Anns on line and will keep checking and ordering until I get enough. Ten will keep me busy for a while shrinking, pressing and cutting.

I am going to try a couple of the methods....patchpieces for one, and PP for another. I will have to draw out a pattern for the PP. I have looked at these suggestions, I think I see a couple more I want to check out. The background of this quilt takes 11 yards, so I will have to wait a month or so for the funds for that. I will be buying FQ of browns in the mean time.
    Thanks to all of you!!

I like Eleanor Burns method and rulers. Four at a time and super easy.

I just checked it out and was amazed! I have so many flying geese rulers that just sit there. This is great. No marking, the sky squares can be different colors to give you a great scrappy look it you want. You chain the base as you go to the one before. When you are done, no marks to remove, no paper to take out, no triming needed...you done. THANKS! I keep learning new things here.
