I was practicing flying geese with my Jodi Barrows ruler when I ran across Pam Bono's technique. They are pretty much the same except that with Pam's the seam allowances are out of the way. I liked it better. Its really just a matter of preference..when you get done no matter what way you choose..you will be an expert. =)

Try my cut down method. It is fast and easy!
I make half square triangles and then I sew two together and you have a flying geese unit.

I cut strips and do it assembly line style. I cut several at a time. Then I sew the strips assembly line style. I sew them flag style. THen cut them apart. then cut out the HSTs assembly line style. the use them however I choose to use them.
We do thousands of them at a time this way. I have sold to a local gift shop for 12 years and we do alot of these ahead and store them. I have organizers full of HSTs sorted by color.
When you do it assembly line or flag style you save time and it is less of a hassle. you aren't precisely cutting anything out but the square. No triangle cutting or lots of trimming. No dogears. Little to no waste.
