Mark-B-Gone Dritz $4.99/$5.99 vs. cheap (w-mart) $1.67

Could it be the Dritz Mark-B-Gone pens are worth the extra cost? I can remember in the 80's purchasing Mark-B-Gone pens for $.79 from W-Mart. The pens lasted me for 4-6 full size quilts. Now they barely last me one quilt project before drying out. Now they cost $1.67 and are called Mark-B-Gone, by P Rym Sewing. I am not sure what brand they sold at W-Mart back then. Could it have been Dritz? Should I start buying the Dritz pen at $5-$6? Does Dritz brand last longer?

I use these pens for marking to hand quilt the pen's write in a purple marker and will disappear after a few hours. I don't have to worry about marks that won't come out. I just mark what I can do in about an hour or so. They fade really fast one you have quilted over them but I have had them stay visible for 5 or 6 hours. There are also some that are wash out I have a blue and a white one.

The vanishing fabric ink pens used in the garment industry is the Chaco brand. I haven't seen that brand sold in stores anywhere. About a year ago I called a fabric design studio in NYC (found online) and asked what brand marking pens the designers used. The guy who answered the phone was very nice and we chatted about fabric. I think he liked my Arkansas accent. LOL He sent me a box of the ink markers. I shared them with guild members and we all liked them.
