I have the BOHIN mechanical pencil, bought at a quilt shop. I have white, black and yellow VERY EXPENSIVE ceramic leads. But I think they will last a lifetime, and make a very nice thin line, easy to wash off.

Thank you yngldy, this is exactly what I have been looking for and will for sure get some. I have the Clover pen Ranchwife spoke about but it isn't working on this dark red I'm working on and I did not know it would remove with heat. I need to try that. This topic has been extremely interesting!

I use the Fons and Porter white and gray marking pens and they erase very easily. The eraser on the end erases them very nicely. I love mine.

Sometimes you have to retrace the first marking to make it show up. I use very dark blood red, brown, black, and hunter greens in my quilts and this white gel pen shows up perfectly. I did get a white felt tip type pen from JoAnn and it didn't show up at all on my fabrics, so I'm sticking with the gel pen. So sorry it didn't work for you. Try going over it twice and see if that helps. It takes a while for the ink to dry. It doesn't show up until it is dry.
