I noticed that the 45mm was on sale for $19.99 on the Martelli site - which is better - the 45mm or the 60mm?
Thanks - confused semi beginner quilter

I ended up throwing the whole thing away.
If I had known they had a website at the time they may have been able to help me with it.
I may just buy another one now I know!

All right, you enablers! Now I want a Martell rotary cutter, slit ruler and mat. I was perfectly happy in my ignorance and you had to ruin it! I'll try to wait until the Quilt Show, but I'm not sure I can make it. :hunf: :hunf:
(Does anyone know if using their mat makes a lot of difference? Would it work if I just had the ruler and cutter? More info, please!)

They recommend you use the cutter with their mat; that's why I got the mat, too (my old one was worn out anyway). I have not had any trouble with the spring; my friend broke hers and they sent her one right away. I have the slit ruler and love the way it holds the fabric still for cutting; I remember them saying that the blue stuff on the back was memory foam and it really works.

I recently bought one at a sew/quilt expo and love it - I too have a fiskars and half a dozen others but this one beats them all - you can cut throuh many layers with ease - I've actually cut thru 16 layers and got perfect cuts
- I love it

If you look on Freecycle.org you can sometimes find the cutting matts and rulers at a very inexpensive price! I happen to find a person that was just giving all her quilting notiions away and i went and picked them up for free! I go to this one and also Craigslist.com in my area. they have them all over the country/world!
