I have to say that it is so much sharper than the olpha and can cut through many more layers. I don't get the pain I used to get.

Here is the Martelli demo video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xF3OBFIQIs

    Here is their online catalog

    http://www.martellicatalog.com/

I believe at Quilt shows, they combine the Mat, Cutter, and Ruler as a combo for saving money.

What is great about Martelli, is you actually use the lines on the mat for cutting, and it has a light and dark side to better view the lines based on fabric colors, as well as areas of the mat that size up the lines for needed measurements. Their ruler is non slip, has slots for cutting, the mat is indestructable (see note at bottom), their blades are titanium (I think), last forever, are sharper, and their rotary cutter is ergonomic.

At the LQS, many have used the Martelli mat with non-Martelli cutters and have cut right through the mat! It didn't heal.

So, if you are going to use Martelli cutting mats, use all Martelli notions for cutting.

I have no financial interest in this company but would love to own stock, and someday, I will buy their combo.

    Diane

one (maybe not so) DH of a lady looking at them was whining about the price...til i showed the wife a photo of the golf course landscape quilt i made my mother...cutting all those wavy lines was a breeze with the martilli

I saw this demo a year or so ago and I was a little afraid because it I thought it didn't look too safe. Am I wrong about this?

Are you meaning the rotary cutter, or the table! I have the cutter, and it is very safe. I think the table would be even more dafe! It looks like a joy to use! And their ruler and cutting mat look even more safe. They appear to be the safest tools around!
