    Default Masking Tape

We are RVing in Quartzsite Arizona. I don't want to drive 1 1/2 hours to a Quilt store. Can I use ordinary masking tape to set up my quilt sandwich for basting? Thanks, Kelsie

I have used it to tape down my backing for sandwiching. I put it just a bit on the fabric edge and put a straight pin through to keep it from peeling off.

I've used masking tape a lot in quilting. Just don't leave it on for an extended time.

I'm kind of puzzled -- I didn't know there was anything else to use!

I always use painter's tape because it is so easy to remove. I have never been a fan of masking tape since I discovered painter's tape. I keep a roll in my sewing room and a couple of rolls in my travelling sewing gear.

I always use masking tape to tape the quilt backing to the floor while sandwiching.

Thanks, for the tip about the painter's tape; I will have to give it a try. I have always used masking tape.

I use whichever is available. Never had a problem with masking tape leaving a residue because it is only there for a short time.
