If I do a tight design with around 10K stitches, I use 2 layers - as mentioned - turning one at an angle. that gives more stability. the higher the stitch count, the thicker the stabilizer needed. that will prevent the puckers. Took a stabilizer class with Floriani - great info.

I make sure and prewash and dry the fabric atleast twice too, as it does like to shrink a bit the second time :wink:
On some, I have put a layer of thin cotton batting behind the fabric.
Dense designs really need a lot of additional stabilization :D:D:D
