Math question for the numerically challenged (attic window)
I'm making an attic window quilt using 16x12 blocks. I'm going to make the attic window part 3.5 inches. I want to do the HST in the corner so I don't have to miter. How much larger do I make the squares to sew to make the HST so the HST comes out to 3.5 inch? Thanks for your help - numbers are NOT my forte!

I believe the general rule is add 7/8" to your finished size and that is your cutting size. I usually just add an inch - in this case would cut 4.5" and then trim down to the 3.5". Someone else might come along and be better at the math.
