Matt's quilt - did you make one?
#24
I didn't see the original post, but what a great pattern for a "guy quilt". I thank you for posting it, and my husband thanks you as well. He took one look at the photo and said: "I want one like that." So it will be a bit of time before I post that photo as I have to make it first! LOL! I know it's an awesome quilt because my husband is very hard to please, and has nixed most patterns I've shown him.

Here's the link to the original post for Matt's quilt:

Cutting instructions are in post #51. This is what she said: "Here are the measurements I used. The strips were 2 1/2" x 6 1/2 "" the squares 6 1/2 " The border is 10 ". This all with 1/4 " seam. I used 35 solid and 35 strip squares. It covers my double bed from the head to foot with a slight overhang on the sides.
I, too, love your quilt! It's going on my "After Christmas To-Do" list.

I have used embroidery floss, inexpensive acrylic yarn and crochet cotton through the years to tie. My preference is embroidery floss BUT other sites say not to use it since it frays....not my experience. Yarn ties get a little lumpy after a bunch of washings and crochet cotton doesn't look sturdy enough to me. I would suggest using fleece (on sale really cheap this time of year!) for backings so you don't have to use batting, just the top and the fleece. This will make it easier to tie and also, fleece doesn't shift or migrate so there are no rules about how close together you must tie it. I make all of my grandson's quilts with fleece backing!

would love to see what you make. I tie my quilts with craft thread. It is heavier than embroidery thread and comes in lots of colors. and if you want more info on the quilt pattern let me know. It's really easy. I made up as I went along. LOL
