    Default may be a silly question to some but here goes?

    can a 6 point star be made with HST? I'm not real good with angles (very challenging for me) but I love working with hst. I have goggled and you tube but can't anything on 6 point star using HST. would greatly appreciate any advice or where to find tutorial. i need to make it a 5 1/2 inch block

    I don't think so since HST are based on 45 degree angle. To have 6 pointed star, you need to deal with 60 degree angle to total 360 degrees. Don't feel bad, I had to think about it for a few moments.

    If you are talking about a 6 pointed star with "rays" that are perfectly symmetrical and even all around, then no you can't. HST are / result in star rays that are/have 45 degree angles....a perfect 6 pointed star requires a 60 degree angles.
    If you are talking about a Star of David - then yes you can use them as the points of the star - but you need a hexagon in the middle and triangle pieces to complete the block.
    If you are looking for an easier 6 pointed star....have you checked out paper piecing?? There are some great ones that go from very simple to very complex. Maybe Google "paper pieced 6 point star quilt blocks"
