I have to admit I'm rather puzzled at all the disappointment voiced in this thread. I guess it was never a big deal to me to be first in line to have the latest and greatest.

They told me at the post office that if the cover is torn (if it isn't in a wrapper) they toss it because they can't read the address. I "lost" a few that way.

Seems to me they are slow getting out subscription magazines. It seems all of them are that way. It also seems like I'm getting all the mags I've subscribed to. If they go out of business, shouldn't they at least notify you and/or refund money if owed?

You might be interested in Fons and Porter Love of Quilting. It seems to be available as a subscription.

The publishing companies ship to the stores first. Sometimes they "drop ship" which means they actually deliver to the various stores and avoid postal charges. With the automation machines, the mags come directly to each carrier's route and they are in the order as the carrier delivers their mail. I can assure you that the mags are delivered the same day they are given to the carrier. There is a "no mail left in their cases" regulation. It is strickly enforced. Each postmaster must send to the mail sectional center's the count of mail & if any was left behind by a deadline.

So if your mags are late often, I would suggest you contact the magazine's officials and make them aware of the problem and ask them to investigate the problem with the magazine shipping company. Oh, and do not let them tell it is USPS's mistakes. You can also go online and file a complaint which will go to the postmaster's boss. Complaints are handled very seriously and very quickly.

Our office hands over all undelivered mail to the supervisor and they will hold it for a few days in case someone asks about it.
