meandering quilting
I keep seeing on the board people talking about meandering. Exactly what is it? I have my second quilt about ready to quilt. It is a four color rail fence. I have been practising free motion for weeks and want to use it. I have stacks of hot pads. As you can see I don't like waste. I don't like stippling and would appreciate any help.

If I understand correctly, meandering is stitching wherever you choose...just kind of wandering over the quilt. Stippling is meandering, but not crossing lines....I think. LOL They are both very similar, but to ask the quilt police...one allows line crossing and one doesn't.

Stippling is the same as meandering but on a smaller scale. Stippling tends to be fairly dense to fill in the background of a block. Meandering is a larger, more open all over pattern on a quilt top. I do the loops of my meandering about 2 inches apart. Look in tutorials, I think there is an example there of meandering.
