    Default Measure twice, cut once!

I have heard that old adage about cutting all my life. This morning I started to cut the curtains for my guest bedroom. I just had enough fabric for the two panels. I measured. Placed pins. Measured a second time. Adjusted my pins. I measured a third time and cut. Only problem was I cut at the wrong set of pins! So now I have one panel that is 14 inches too long and one that is 14 inches too short! I called the quilt shop where I had originally purchase the fabric. The owner didn't think she had any of the fabric left, but was going to double check and call me if she had it. I haven't heard, so I guess she does not have it. I spent about 45 minutes on line and finally found it in a shop in OR! I ordered what I needed for the other curtain, plus extra. I am so glad I found it, because I originally purchased the fabric almost 2 years ago! I am so lucky! I really didn't have an option for a different fabric for the curtains. I have now made one and have the lining ready for the second when it arrives some time within the next 10 days! Again I feel very lucky to have found it and realize that I should not have measured that third time. It was like "3 on a match"... bad luck!

Last night I measured correctly, cut correctly and had a nice stack of 7 1/4 squares when I realized it was the wrong fabric. I cutting the light print, not the dark. Grr.

I'm glad you were able to fix your miscut.

glad you were able to find more fabric. I'm guessing most of us have cut something wrong during our quilting years.
