Does anyone know where I can find any sewing patterns for swords, Armour, etc. of Medieval type patterns, also any that could be embroidered by hand? My husband collects swords. I would like to find something to make him with this theme in mind for Christmas. Thanks!

For hand embroidery you can google images of swords for patterns. I would do several searches using different words for swords. You husband being a collector you could probably start asking him about it to try and get the names. For example google images only using "Excalibur", "Samarai", "medieval weapons", "civil war swords" you get the idea. You will get tons of images that you can turn into patterns for embroidery.

You could also google mythical creatures for patterns

When I was looking for animals with a celtic theme to embroider, I just typed in celtic clip art and found lots of patterns to base my designs off of. I would imagine there are plenty out there of what you are looking for.

I don't know of any way to make swords out of fabric, but I wonder if you contact the Society of Creative Anachronism if they would be able to help. Usually their weapons are realistic, not fabric, but they might make toy ones as well. http://www.sca.org/

There are various medieval costume patterns in JoAnns, etc. Maybe looking at them will spark some ideas.
