    Default Mens Neck Ties

I have my late father-in-laws ties and would like to make a quilt out of them. I have seen Dresden Plate out of ties, but I only have 14. I thought about making 12 inch squares and appliquing a tie on each square. Has anyone done anything like this or know where I might find a pattern for something like this?

    Thanks Kim

Maybe it would be fun to make some blocks that looks like shirts with collars and pockets then sew the ties on.

Here is a simple block, paperpieced, that could work up nicely with ties, and if you have any of his dress shirts, they can be used for the background.

If you don't have shirts, they can be purchased at any consignment shop cheaply.

Have fun, sounds like a nice quilt.

The new issue of Quilt World magazine has a necktie quilt on the cover and the pattern inside. I'm thinking about making a trip to the thrift shop and stock up on some ties. I really like the look of that quilt.

above is a link to some quilts using men's ties. You could use other fabrics and one of the 14 ties in each of say 12 1/2" blocks and have a nice size throw.

    Good luck

You could always pick some up at Goodwill, or another thrift store to give you enough.
