I have a small collection of antique irons, the kind you put into the stove to heat up. Some of them have pretty little stands. If you don't have access to one of those, how about an iron decorative trivet that would be used to keep a hot dish or pan off the table or counter surface? I have several of those as well!

I had one of the bigger blue silicon mats for my iron I never used. I cut it down to fit my small iron. I traced around the iron and left 1" around it. To keep the heat from transferring I put a piece of batting underneath, depends on where I use it and where it will have to sit. It works fine and doesn't take up much room on my work space.

If you can find any "leftover" tile, you can use that as a trivet tray also. At least I've used one for my hot glue gun for years. If you can get one larger square of tile and a couple smaller pieces (such as 1x1") you can make a small resting place for your iron.

If your mini iron is like one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Clover-MCI-90...ds=clover+iron
...you can put it in a ceramic mug.
