Hi there..............does anyone have any advice on quilting with Minkee backing? I have never used it; It seems very stretchy and I have pinned it well. Do you think it would FMQ well or should I just use my walking foot? It is a baby quilt for my niece who is due Dec.30. Thanks so much.

My LAQ works with it, so I'm sure you can do it!
It's so cuddly ..... I'm thinking of using it on an adult quilt!

Just ordered some from fabric.com -- they have some that's $8.40/yd. At 60" that sounds like a good deal. I have a baby quilt I want to use on it and like you have never used it before.

DId you use batting? I'm thinking of not - just the top and the minky backing.

(If you order from fabric.com search for a code - retailmenot has one listed that saves 15%.)

Why don't you share the code. It's not classified.

I didn't share it cause I didn't remember what it was! I figured anyone interested in it would look it up, but to save you the trouble I looked it up again... aband2011b

I have used minkee for a backing before and I used batting. It didn't seem to make it too heavy or anything.

Kathie - good to know - thanks. I live near Houston, but the quilt I want it for is going to Tennessee - so ... hard to know.

I recently saw a quilt at a quilt show that had minkee on the back, and the quiltmaker had made a comment that she had been pleasantly surprised that it had been very easy to quilt it.
