Minky Binding
#1
I am making a baby quilt with a cotton pieced top and a minky back, with no batting. This will be my first time with minky so I have no idea what I should use for binding? Any ideas? I was thinking of maybe getting a silk premade binding. Or pulling the minky to the front and not using any binding.

The minky is challenging to work with, to say the least. I used it as a back with a batik top and I had so much trouble with the quilting. I like the idea of a silk binding. The baby will love the softness.
Will it be tied, or quilted?

Minky is very slick, and I wonder how easy it will be sewing the silk ribbon onto it? I would use a walking foot for sure if you decide to do this.
I think it may be easier to wrap the minky around to the front. :D:D:D

I rolled mine...It stretches A LOT which makes traditional binding more challenging.
I also found that the minkee was the part the kids liked most...having it on both sides allows the mama to use both. When placed on the floor, I usually put the quilters cotton down and left the full minkee side up.
