    Default Minky

I am making 10 Christmas quilts and intend to use Minky on the back. Do I need to prewash the Minky I'm not sure if it will bleed onto the Quilt. Any suggestions please.

I usually wash everything first... except my jelly rolls and charm packs. (afraid to prewash them ) That being said when I prewash I often put multiple fabrics together and I always put in color catchers. The minky never gets anything on the color catchers so that leads me to believe it won't bleed

I use it on all of my chemo quilts and have never prewashed, but do throw it in the machine when it is all finished. Never a problem yet.

There was recently a big discussion of this. It came down to, as usual, different experiences for different people. My experience has been that it does not bleed. I use it regularly for baby/kids quilts. I wash all my quilts when they are done with color catchers. Nor do I find it as difficult to work with as some people do. I quilt on my DSM. On the other hand, if you have concerns, it never hurts to prewash. Your recipients will love their Minky backed quilts!

Ditto what the others have said. I've used Minky quite a bit and never had it run. (Now maybe cheaper knockoffs could be a problem ...)
