I have been watching you with your perfectly mitered corners on the quilts and mug rugs. So do you use any special turning tool to get them that way?

    Borders or bindings?

Not that it matters. But tools aren't really necessary.

Just really, really having a good understanding of the technique (all the steps).

Fabulous videos from a master - Sharon Schamber.

    Binding (Part 1 of 3) :

And mitered borders (Part 1 of 2):

Now, I'll admit I don't do all that when I miter borders, but pay attention to what she's saying about where things HAVE to match up before sewing, and why she does what she does in prep steps, so you can at least take from it the important points.

I use Elmers glue to hold mine in place until I get them sewn down :D:D:D

I watched the video from Sharon Schamber network....and learned sooo much.

I have never glued anything or even heard of it before.

I think I'm going to try it on my next project - it makes everything come out looking so perfect!

    Hi,
I have a brain injury and found the video in this thread very easy to understand. You will also see how nicely mitered my corners came out 1 st try. The link is on one of the pages.

Another trick to keep in mind when dealing with mitering borders...if you have multiple borders - sew all the strips together first THEN do your miter. What a difference that makes. So much easier.

The u-tube very helpful. I've never heard of the glue treatment.
